Finchley Catholic High School has a highly successful co-education Sixth Form with around 300 students across Years 12 and 13.
To be successful at this new stage in their education, students need to be conscientious, hard-working and willing to act on the advice and guidance offered by their teachers. If they do so, recent experience shows that they can expect to perform strongly in their examinations and achieve the University places and careers to which they aspire.
At A Level, the pass rate in 2011 was an impressive 99.75% with 62% of the grades being in the range A*-B, an increase of 8% on the previous year. With an average points score of 340, up from 315 the previous year, students were well placed to secure their university places, with the overwhelming majority accepting their first or insurance offers. Twelve students were awarded straight A*/As and two won places at Oxbridge. Our ALPs report has put us in the top 10% of schools and colleges for so called “value added” at post 16 level. Due to its growing popularity, the Sixth Form has been heavily oversubscribed in recent years, and with over 30 subjects available we are able to offer a degree of choice that few other institutions are able to match.
